Feeling Good

Wanted to post a few tracks that I have been jamming to constantly

Priors

Made up of two old time french house guys, Priors makes some great beats with very good vocals to back it up, more indie than dance. This song has been in my head all week, and I can't stop listening. Make sure to check their myspace and support Priors.

Bag Raiders

Bag Raiders have been on the electro scene for quite some time. I have heard several different songs that were all pretty but good, but what makes them so great is the diversity. Some tracks are more like slamming house bangers while other more low key. This track shooting star has completely captivated me, with its slow steady build and catchy indie vocals. This song has you bobbing along enjoying life, when it rises and explodes into a head bobbing sun shine finale that just makes you feel good. Go to their site and listen to all of their incredible tracks.

Recently Viewed Movie: District 9

Holy fucking shit this movie rocks.

Now that I got it out of my system I shall elaborate. There are so many things that impressed me with this film.

Filming

The movie did excellent work combining many different filming styles to make the movie diverse and not stagnant. It uses the mounted camera effect to put a person in the chaos in turmoil during action, yet unlike a movie like Cloverfield where one eventually becomes nauseous they break this up with standard cinematic shooting as well as multiple "surveillance" footage shots (helicopter, stationary cameras). While this is great to sit back and analyze, my point is that this combination of filming techniques creates for a marvelous viewing experience

Story

In science fiction my greatest complaint will always be a lack of realism. This seems hypocrticial given that it is fiction, but feeling that something is realistic or plausible even in fantasy makes it a richer experience. District 9 achieves realism with astounding success. The main character feels incredibly genuine, not an action hero but more of a white collar goof.

The relationships while not the main interest throughout, gives a sincere underlying connection to something that would otherwise be sheer fantasy. When Wikus and the young prawn crash and Chris is locked in an MNU truck, you the viewer feel completely defeated. Your genuinely distraught at the prospect of this alien child and Wikus being dead. And not just like "awwww bummer they lost", but more a kin to that of a crushing loss like the medic's death in Saving Private Ryan.

District 9 also does a great job providing a roller coaster of feelings. Sometimes your confused or concerned for Wikus, other times it feels more like a revenge film and your getting a bone-jam cause he is rocking ass. In conclusion the story of this movie did everything right with very few shortcomings if any.

Action

While it is exciting, this is not an "action-scifi" movie. Action in the film is secondary to the story and character development. However, when the action is happening GODDD DAMMMN. All I can say is i never tired of watching people explode into liquid, ever.... EVER.

CONCLUSION

Stop being a Turkey and go watch the movie now

A New Purpose

So I realized that I would sincerely enjoy running a blog. Wait a sec, did this once already. Rather, I would like to have a place where I can post random things that pic my brain, either for my own personal edification/enjoyment or so that others who know me, should they be so inclined, could gaze upon my inner workings.

Subjects I will post about politics, film, music (all shades of it), funny pictures and funny videos and so forth.
